Norman has landed safely (17.00 GMT) in Corsica, the French island close to Italy, because the airport at Elba was closed for maintenance. He will be there for the night. More later….

- Norman Surplus is from Larne in N. Ireland. He is an accomplished autogyro pilot who has been active in many outdoor pursuits over the years. He is also an experienced crew member of a Royal National Lifeboat Institution rescue boat (similar to coastgurad recue) with responsibility for navigation and steering (coxswain).
