A nice flight across the Gulf islands to Abu Dhabi today Norm, but I think the marshallers at Abu Dhabi were not sure what you are, lol. They appeared to put you with the helicopters but then moved you halfway between the GA fixed wing and the rotary section, Magic, :-) Enjoy your evening and have a cold one
LOL at the marshallers not knowing where to put Gyrox. How did you know that Eddie? Surely the satellite picture isn't live?
Must admit there was an awful lot of zigzagging from the SPOT on the ground after one of Norman's earlier landings in the trip - I thought at the time ping-pong bat man must have taken fright and tried to run away from the autogyro ...
To Louise... I put the tracker on Hybrid and zoom in real close, then I open Google earth for a double view, and google the airport and get info on what the services and areas on the airport are for. Sad eh? But it's nice to have the info at hand that may give a clearer idea of what is going on at the time. When he was with us in Cairo, I saw at first hand the back and forwards manouvres he had to do to please the officials and especially when it came to refueling from the boot of a taxi! We had to use the pedestrian walkway to bring G-YROX close enough, lol. But I do wish I was the proverbial fly on the wall whenever he lands anywhere :-)
Norman Surplus is from Larne in N. Ireland. He is an accomplished autogyro pilot who has been active in many outdoor pursuits over the years. He is also an experienced crew member of a Royal National Lifeboat Institution rescue boat (similar to coastgurad recue) with responsibility for navigation and steering (coxswain). Norman is also the co-founder of clean energy technology company B9 Energy.
I wonder if Norm will make a final leg today to As Seeb airport in Oman, then take another giant step towards Karachi Pakistan tomorrow??

And for tomorow what is his destination?

It's raining in Abu Dhabi this morning...
ReplyDeleteG-YROX is currently taking refuge in the Abu Dhabi Aviation Rotary Wing Hangar.
Watching Norman's progress is becoming addictive! Fantastic adventure - keep it up and good luck. Mark
ReplyDeleteThanks for the technical info Eddie - I'll give it a try if my computer can take the strain!
